About the Client

NOS is a leading telecommunications and media company in Portugal. It provides a comprehensive range of services, including mobile and fixed telephony, broadband internet, and pay TV, with a strong emphasis on advanced technology, such as its extensive 5G network and fiber optic services.

NOS is a market leader in Pay TV and broadband, catering to residential and business customers, and operates the largest cinema chain in the country.

Challenge

NOS faced a significant challenge in securing its corporate and customer data while maintaining operational efficiency regardless of the endpoint used by third-party service providers.

The increasing demand for flexibility in device usage, coupled with the need for secure access to sensitive data, created a complex environment. NOS needed a solution that could provide robust security without compromising the user experience or operational effectiveness.

Approach

Understanding the critical nature of NOS operational landscape, we embarked on a comprehensive assessment of their current security infrastructure, focusing on the specific needs of their Field Force project.

Our approach was rooted in the principle that security must be seamless and integrated into the workflow without hindering productivity.

  • We worked closely with NOS to understand their objectives, which included:
  • Securing corporate and customer data;
  • Granting operational effectiveness;
  • Optimizing support services.

Solution

To address NOS challenges, we implemented a multi-faceted solution designed to provide top-tier security while enhancing operational efficiency. Key components of the solution included:

  • Secure Corporate Container: We introduced a secure container solution to safeguard corporate data on all devices, ensuring that sensitive information remained protected, even on personal or shared devices.
  • Mobile Application Management (MAM): Our MAM strategy enabled NOS to remotely manage and secure applications, restricting their execution to recommended environments. This approach minimized incompatibilities and failures, allowing service providers to work seamlessly across different devices.
  • BYOD and Shared Devices: We implemented a robust BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) policy, coupled with secure shared device management, allowing providers to use their preferred devices while maintaining strict security controls.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): We integrated SSO and MFA to streamline access while ensuring that only authorized personnel could access sensitive data. This provided a smooth user experience without sacrificing security.
  • Application Tunnel: A transparent application tunnel was deployed to secure data transmission, minimize exposure of the corporate network, and ensure that only necessary traffic was allowed.

Impact

The implementation of the Field Force project, supported by our comprehensive security solutions, led to substantial improvements in NOS operational efficiency and data security.

Operational Efficiency: With the deployment of Workspace ONE, NOS service providers could access tasks more efficiently and securely. The ability to use the most convenient device without compromising security enhanced their operational experience, leading to faster service delivery and higher satisfaction among providers.

Data Security: The secure corporate container and application tunnel ensured that all transmitted data was protected, reducing the risk of breaches, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The integration of MFA and SSO provided an additional layer of security, safeguarding sensitive information against unauthorized access.

User Experience: Despite the rigorous security measures, the user experience remained consistent and intuitive, allowing service providers to focus on their tasks without being burdened by complex security protocols. The remote management capabilities also meant that support services could be optimized, reducing downtime and improving overall efficiency.

In conclusion

Our collaboration with NOS to enhance the security and efficiency of their Field Force project was a resounding success. By implementing a tailored security solution that balanced protection with usability, we enabled NOS to achieve their operational goals while safeguarding their critical data assets.

After implementing the Field Force project at NOS, we experienced notable improvements in operational efficiency and safety. From an operational standpoint, Vmware Workspace One enabled NOS service providers to access tasks more efficiently, enhancing safety. Additionally, providers were able to use the most convenient device while maintaining a consistent user and operational experience.
